Maybe we have heard the above sentences often, not only in daily lecture activities but the sentences above are heard more often during midterm exams or end-of-semester exams. People say "the place determines achievement", the more specific error is "a strategic and safe place from the lecturer's point of view determines achievement". Lately, especially during the week of the exams, students arrive earlier than the recommended hours. Usually you have to arrive 15 minutes before exam time, but these students can arrive half an hour early or even an hour earlier than exam time. Amazing!! On average, when they are asked why this is the case, they will answer, "Find a seat." Wow, it seems like a chair is indeed an expensive price to have. It is evident that not only members of the House of Representatives are looking for seats, we students also do the same thing even though the 'seat' here has a different context.
Why don't these students like to sit in the front? Isn't sitting anywhere the same? Aren't the results achieved later the same?
They think that by getting a strategic and safe seat, at least if they have difficulties, they will be helped by having a friend next to them or behind them. It's like they don't need to look too upside down to get an answer. That's why they came too early, anyway he gets first.
What they should think about is that not everyone who gets the most strategic seat can do the exam questions smoothly, safely, and in a controlled manner. They should also have to consider many factors, many of them who have been studying all night, have prepared themselves to struggle with the problems of illness but as soon as they have entered the class their confidence immediately drops down or where it goes. This is indeed a problem for students in Indonesia, they do not have enough confidence in their own abilities. If they can, the other side will lose. In addition, the luck factor can also dominate. No matter how smart a person is, if they are unlucky, they are lucky.
Very much salute to other students who want to come early or even too early for the exam schedule. I am sure, they came early not just sitting idle. If they know the chairs are messy after using them before, they will quickly arrange the chairs in such a way that they are neat so that when the other friends come they don't have to arrange the chairs again. If the exam time is still long, they will also open the book and repeat the lessons they have learned, who knows there will still be material that is not understood or missed. The seating factor is actually not a guarantee but they feel helped if they experience difficulties. Actually, of all the things that happened, the thing that was most concerned was "the existence of a crisis of confidence." They are actually capable, but lack confidence so they depend on their friends. Taste which eventually becomes interdependent, causing the cycle to be unstoppable. If you think about it, it's complicated, yes, we are prospective educators, but in the education period we are still like this: find a seat-find a safe-cheat-finish-the results are not bad. Imagine when we start teaching tomorrow and then see our students also doing what we did in the past, what are we going to do ?? Must be smiling :)
